SCHOLARSHIPS:
The NWJHL awards two scholarships each year:
i. Trades: Darcy Haugen, Technical, Trade Memorial Scholarship.
ii. Academics
Criteria:
A. Player must be in good standing with the NWJHL and have been a long servicing player that is or will
be pursuing a post-secondary education.
B. Teams will provide nominations and rational for nominations which will be brought forward and voted
on by the teams at the fall meeting.
C. Applications are due to the President by June 30 of the current season.
D. Scholarship amount shall be 1000.00 each.
FRIENDS OF ALBERTA JUNIOR HOCKEY SOCIETY
For the 2026 – 2027 Hockey Season the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society will have 2
separate scholarships available to junior hockey players currently playing for a Junior A, B, or C
team registered in the province of Alberta. The applicant must be currently enrolled in full
course studies at a post-secondary school in Alberta during the hockey year 2026/27.
The Alberta Junior Athletic Award is a $2,000.00 scholarship, presented in conjunction with
Student Aid Alberta and the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society. There will be 10
scholarships awarded in this program. The application for this scholarship can be found on the
Friends website www.friendsofajh.com . The form is to be printed off, completed in full, and
remitted with your complete transcript for ALL semesters, including the fall 2026 semester.
This transcript is usually available from your school website in late December, or the first week
in January.
Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society Scholarships will also be awarded this year. Players,
On Ice Officials and team therapists are eligible for the Friends scholarships. The Friends
Society scholarships are valued between $1,500.00 and $2,000.00 each and although the
number of these scholarships varies each year, we expect to award between 20 and 25 for the
2025 -26 season. The application form for this scholarship can also be found on the Friend’s
website at www.friendsofajh.com . This application is to be filled in online. Applications will
open Dec 27, 2026. You must attach your complete transcript for All semesters, including the
fall 2026 semester and submit electronically online.
