The puck has dropped on the NWJHL season with all teams playing two games. The surprise of the weekend has to be the Sexsmith Vipers going 2-0. The organization has been hard at work the last few years and its showing in the win column. The team has had a hard time making it past the first round of the playoffs, could this be year they get over the hill, time will tell.
Through the six games this weekend there were three shutouts collected by goaltenders. On top of that there were only 24 goals scored this weekend, this could attribute to early season rust by the players or mid season forms early from goaltenders. Time will tell.
Its a short turn around for the Kings and Flyers as they clash in a weekday battle on Thursday. This will be the first of three games for the Flyers in week two of the NWJHL season.
Week one was exciting, its great to have fans back in the building and hockey back o the ice.
